Electrical steel sheet is a steel with silicon added and is a magnetic material which efficiently converts electrical energy and magnetic energy as a feature.
This material is used in extensive fields, such as the cores in generators, transformers, and motors, etc. as the main applications. This material has low core loss of the energy in energy conversion, thereby improving energy efficiency and achieving energy savings.
In addition to standard electrical steel, Kanematsu also handles thin gauge electrical steel strips which thickness is thinner than 0.2mm.
In response to the increasing needs for energy efficiency, we are enhancing our sales activities of high-value added niche material, thin-gauge electrical steel strip.
Kanematsu contributes to the solution of issues in the energy savings and electrifications needed in society today, through the supplying of thin-gauge electrical steel strips. We handle both oriented electrical steel strips with magnetic properties only in one direction, and non-oriented electrical steel strips with magnetic properties in all directions.
Depending on customer needs, we can provide both of oriented and non-oriented electrical steel strips in cut sheets, laminated cores, strips, and other forms.
Electrical equipment, such as reactors, transformers, and motors, etc. that use the thin-gauge electrical steel strips, reduce electric energy loss by the material characteristics, and realize excellent energy efficiency particularly in the high frequency range. This product is being adopted in extensive applications, such as in electrical equipment related to power generation, power transmission and transformation, and motors installed in air mobility systems, etc., and the demand is expected to increase in the future.
Furthermore, Kanematsu not only supplies material, but also provides services including wire cutting, press punching, and laminated core manufacturing, etc. We will continue to contribute to the development of a sustainable global environment, such as improvement in energy efficiency, by supplying the thin-gauge electrical steel strips.
The oriented electrical steel strip (GT series) is used in various electrical equipment including reactors and transformers, and is provided in steel strips, cut sheets, and wound cores per customer needs.
Medical equipment (Transformers)
High-voltage DC transmission systems (Reactors)
Substation(Transformers)
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
Aircraft (Power-reactors)
High-Speed rail(Reactors)
Wind power generation
This product has excellent magnetic properties in the specific direction of the steel strip. The high saturation flux density lowers core loss especially in the high frequency range.
Compared with conventional electrical steel sheets, this “thin-gauge” electrical steel strips (thickness: 0.12 mm or less) achieve a great reduction in core loss due to the thinner thickness and its low eddy currents.
This helps improving in energy efficiency of applications.
Aircraft (Power-reactors)
Underwater drones
Vacuum cleaners
Cleaning robots
Dental drills
E-motorcycles
Data Center(Cooling fan motors)
This product has excellent magnetic properties in all directions of the steel strip. Compared with conventional electrical steel sheets, this “thin-gauge” electrical steel strips (thickness: 0.15 mm or less) achieve a great reduction in core loss due to the thinner thickness and its low eddy currents.
